Celebrating 29 Years of Boundary Bay Brewery!

On September, 16th 1995 Boundary Bay opened our doors for the first time. Today, 29 years later, we’re proud to be Bellingham’s longest-running brewery!

Building relationships and supporting the community are key components of the brewery. With owner Ed Bennett and general manager Janet Lightner’s leadership, along with the help of an incredible team of employees, we’ve created a space for the community to share award-winning beer and delicious food, spotlight hundreds of local artists and musicians, and support countless nonprofits. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the endless support we’ve received from our wonderful community, who have allowed us to keep our doors open through the ups and downs of the past 29 years, and continue brewing our favorite thing - beer!

“After 29 years, there is so much to be thankful for, beyond just the beer. Bellingham and the craft brewery community have gifted us life-long friends and countless heartfelt memories that have shaped Boundary for the better” - Janet Lightner, General Manager.

To commemorate the day, we’ve brewed something special - Forever Young Porter! We’re also hosting an anniversary brewery tour where we’ll have cake, brews, and lots of cheers! OH, and don’t forget, we’ve extended happy hour, offering $5 pints (of most of our beer) from 2-6 pm, Monday - Thursday, ALL MONTH LONG!

Forever Young Porter

Brewed to celebrate 29 years of Boundary Bay Brewery, Forever Young Porter embodies nearly three decades of craft brewing excellence. Pronounced espresso, chocolate, and roasty notes are balanced by moderate bitterness and a touch of sweetness. Its slight creaminess and pleasantly dry finish showcase rich and complex flavors.

*Forever Young Porter is available on draft at the brewery. Get $5 pints of it all September-long!

Brewery Tour

Join us on Monday, September 16th for our 29th Anniversary Brewery Tour! This tour is 21+ and will give you a look behind the scenes at Bellingham’s oldest brewery - and you’ll get lots of fun tidbits about our history and brewing process!

Looking back on our 25th Anniversary…

To celebrate our momentous 25th Anniversary (2020), longtime employee Keaton Urling-Ehinger revealed a short commemorative film on the history of Boundary Bay Brewery to owners Ed Bennett and Janet Lightner. The duo was treated to a special, private screening in the Mt. Room - complete with a toast from Ed with cellar-aged Cabin Fever.

BOUNDARY BAY MEMORIES:

Celebrating 29 Years in business with stories from our community

A packed St. Patrick's day celebration takes place in the Boundary Bay Taproom.jpeg

“Favorite memory has to be St Patrick’s Day! Something we always looked forward to and planned for. One year in particular the Tap Room was incredibly packed. So much festivity with the live music, the dancers and our favorite, the fire fighter pipe band! You couldn’t go to Boundary on St Patrick’s Day and not have the best night! So much fun!”

“PNW Beer Moms was invited along with The Pink Boots Society of Bellingham to collaborate on a brew at Boundary Bay for International Women's Day 2020. Not only did my little women (5 and 2 year olds) have a blast helping and stomping in their boots when we drained the tanks, but Boundary took care of us in every way from lunch, beer, and a memorable tour! Everyone that works there is fabulous! I know that was a top highlight for PNW Beer Moms this year and it meant so much to drink our own beer You Got Moxee when it came out! Thanks for the spectacular day Boundary Bay!”

“I remember meeting Ed when he came to the Mt Baker Theatre and wanted to sell his beer in the lobby during intermission. We had no idea if it would work but thank goodness that the powers that be said YES .......we thought we were so cool to have beer at MBT. Ed and Janet have become an integral part of Bellingham....here is to 25 more years.

Love, Amy Brewster”

“My favorite memory is when you hosted the "McCandliss Family Reunion" (Bennett & Beyond) in August, 2015. The 30 or so family members came from as far away as Baltimore, DC and Maui. I came from California and it was one of the many visits to Bham that enticed my move here. Our activities included with pizza and tee shirts in the beer garden, The Brew Cruise, the hike to Fragrance Lake (with refreshments provided at the lake), extreme croquet w/ paella, and BBQ's at Cane Lake. We raised glasses at BBB everyday. Thank you for all the fun and enjoyment!”
