Celebrating 20 Years Of Family

This Spring we’ve been celebrating 20-year anniversary after 20-year anniversary as FOUR of our Boundary team members have hit the milestone! Their contributions are countless, the stabilizing effect of their presence is priceless, and we could not be more proud! If you see them around next time you’re at the brewery, make sure to congratulate them!

Read on to learn more about each of the team members and the journeys they’ve taken at Boundary Bay!

Josh Gordon

Janet hired Josh to work alongside her in the kitchen when he was just 19 years old! Josh learned to bake at Boundary, and mentored by “Terry,” he soon mastered the bread program and took on our desserts as well. His cornbread, cheesecake, and brownies are legendary! When asked to make 100 cinnamon rolls or 1000 individual soda breads, the answer was always “Sure, no problem!”.

Josh is planning on moving to Sequim where he will run his own Bakery and start building a beautiful family with baby Nova front and center! We will miss him but are very excited for this next chapter in his life. Congratulations Josh and thank you!!

Brian Skywalker

Brian Skywalker has been holding down our lunch service for over 10 years and often does it single-handedly. His lunch regulars know his schedule as well as he does! Brian started at Boundary as a dishwasher and has been in a managing role for many many years. Recently he’s jumped into a role of maintenance pre-serving shifts, his home ownership skills having come in handy. Brian’s loyalty to Boundary makes our hearts sing. We are so happy he has stayed all these years. We have watched Brian grow and have had the pleasure of seeing him raise a lovely family.

Thank you “Young Skywalker!”

Arion Nielsen

From Cook to Bartender to head of our maintenance team, Arion’s skill set is seemingly never-ending. He is crafty, artistic, and analytical! One of the greatest joys at Boundary is retaining employees and finding opportunities to keep them engaged and challenged. The 100-year Thomas Burns building (which houses Boundary) may just be the ticket to keeping Arion here another 20 years! There seems to be something that always needs fixing and is never straight forward. Arion’s tough to our Campus is seen in everything, from our gardens to his hand-crafted portable stage, and occasionally he will pop into the kitchen and lend a hand there!

Thank you, Arion!

Stephanie

If you come by Boundary early in the morning you will surely see Steph keeping not only the inside of BB sparkling but also the outside! Steph diligently picks up litter all around BB and goes the extra mile to assure our curb appeal is on point. Stephanie’s entire family has been a part of our Boundary Family at one time or another. She currently works alongside her partner and daughter! The years of expertise and organizational knowledge that Steph has shared with others are some of the reasons why Boundary Bay is sparkling clean, inside and out!

Steph plays with the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra, plays in a Big Band project, and teaches drum lessons. She has touched many in our community through music. It has been such fun seeing her perform in our Beer Garden.

Bravo Stephanie!!

Happy Anniversary Josh, Brian, Arion and Steph! Thank you for all your years of service to Boundary. We love and appreciate you!
