May the Froth be with You - part one

The beginning of May brings out plenty of meme-worthy content and a day to celebrate a galaxy from a long time ago that’s far, far away. We brought the galaxy back to the future and made it a little closer for consumption with a single hop Hazy IPA.

That release is our Otter Space Hazy IPA. This beer unites the sleek flavor of Maris Otter (a 2-Row British Varietal Barley) with Galaxy hops (a very unique Australian breed). Prepare for the tractor beam as playful aromas of pineapple, guava, dankness and orange reverberate into a luxuriously creamy and resinous orbiting finish. One sip of this Hazy IPA and you’ll know - you otter believe!

Up next is our first ever Hefeweizen… For the first time in 27 years…we’ve brewed a Hefeweizen! Arriving as a hazy ray of golden-straw sunshine, this Hefeweizen strikes a classical and beautiful balance between banana and clove characteristics. Its abundant yeast character, low-to-no bitterness and balanced sweetness culminate with a smooth, effervescent finish making it the impeccable summer soulmate.

Wow! Very good. I can’t believe we’ve never made one before.

Following up our first Cold IPA release Enchanted Frontier, Enchanted Forest Cold IPA is a collaboration with our longtime hop partner, Virgil Gamache Farms. This ultra-bright hop-forward IPA was fermented with lager yeast reaping a smooth and zealous crispiness. We utilized a German-grown variety of Virgil Gamache’s Amarillo hop, which produces distinct and vibrant flavors of fruit punch - differing immensely from the variety grown in the Yakima Valley. This Cold IPA’s pronounced bitterness and enthrallingly clean finish encompasses the magic of a hop forest.
