On the cutting edge of wood art, NFTs, and now Philanthropy:
Local artist Shawn Kemp has spent time and effort mastering his craft: Intricately designed and laser cut wood art - which he sells in physical form and through an NFT minting process. He’s recently teamed up with Boundary Bay Brewery in the name of philanthropy, where all of his art proceeds will be donated to Rooted Generosity, which will help to fund the Jordan Slagle Boundary Bay Scholarship.
Who is Shawn?
“I make art using computers, pure high intensity light, and traditional woodcraft. My woodcuts are composed of layers of wood that is cut with a high powered laser and finished with shellac I carefully tint.
I’m inspired by the complexity of nature and the order of mathematics and my pieces incorporate these principles in their design.
I am a generative artist, which means I use algorithms and scripts as tools to help me bring these complex ideas to life. It’s like distilling order out of the chaos of a billion possible realities.
You’ll find my art in homes through the real world and as NFT’s in the digital metaverse as well.”
