Protecting Our Trees: Supporting Whatcom Million Trees With Piano and Pints

Every Tuesday from 6-8 pm, you’ll find the Boundary Bay taproom full of live piano music from the talented local musician Paul Klein. But this isn’t just for the enjoyment of our customers, it’s also a way to give back to our community. March through April we’re donating $1 from every pint as well as Paul Klein’s booking fee and tips to the Whatcom Million Trees Project.

Protecting the Trees of Whatcom County

Every Tuesday throughout the month of February Paul Klein will be gracing the taproom with live music, while we raise money for Whatcom Million Trees! The Whatcom Million Trees Project was formed in 2021 with the goal of planting and protecting 1 million trees throughout the county. Their vision is “To spur positive action for trees & forests that will enhance our community’s health, biodiversity, and resilience in this era of rapid climate change”. The organization hosts many events, including work parties where members of the public can help plant trees in parks and public spaces as well as protect mature trees in the Lake Whatcom Watershed and surrounding urban forests.

We’ve partnered with Whatcom Million Trees as we recognize the importance of the role they are taking on in protecting our region and the trees within it that allow our community to thrive.

An Exciting Beer Collaboration

Another great part of our partnership with Whatcom Million Trees Project is Million Trees IPA, a beer we brewed to honor our collaboration!

Million Trees is a West Coast IPA community collaboration beer. This super bright IPA’s hop bill of Simcoe, Columbus, Idaho 7, and Sultana plants deep flavors of pine and citrus permeate throughout the pint. Its pronounced bitterness and touch of dankness grow into a smooth, earthy finish.

Million Trees IPA is currently available on draft and in cans at the brewery! Pick up a 6-pack the next time you visit and show your support for Whatcom Million Trees Project!

Limited-Edition Merch Collaboration

The final part of our collaboration with Whatcom Million Trees Project was to release a limited-edition hoodie to spread the word and further give to their cause. This hoodie features a 2-toned version of our Million Trees IPA can (the view from Oyster Dome in Bellingham, WA), and is extremely comfortable. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Whatcom Million Trees Project, along with all the money raised for them at Piano & Pints Community Support nights throughout April & March.

Our Whatcom Million Trees Project x Boundary Bay Brewery hoodies are available for purchase at the brewery, but supplies are quickly dwindling!
